Proverbs can move mountains! Want to make a difference? Be the difference! They always say if there is a topic you want to read about, go to the Bible. Porn? Bible. Good deeds? Bible. Heros? Bible. Murder? Bible. In this chapter, men learn how to be Godly men and Godly women. Learn how to be Confident, and teach your children confidence.

If we as parents do not teach our children to be confident in themselves, how can we expect them to eventually deserve a spouse who confides in them, trusting their judgment and faith? A child must learn who they are as an individual before completing another individual. Kids are going to be kids, but it is important to me as a mom that not only do children know right from wrong, but want to be right and good.

MONDAY:

• Proverbs Week 2 Coloring Printable
• D Decorating Page
• Topics of Conversation: Target emotions. My examples are with my husband and I since we are together, but if you are single find another strong relationship in your child’s life to model.) Are mommy and daddy nice to each other? Are they happy together? When do they get sad? What does mommy do to make daddy happy? Do mommy and daddy spend time together? What makes mommy mad? What makes mommy better when mommy is mad (forgiveness?)

TUESDAY:

• Make a Craft for Someone Sick or Special – we made a card for little brother. He was hospitalized: a piece of construction paper, paint dot markers, glitter, and glitter glue made Kara feel like she was really helping him get better and helped a two-year-old find a voice to put someone else needs above her own.
• M & M Letter D Activity – M&M’s are GREAT for beginning Patterns!!! Red, Blue, Red, Blue, Red, Blue. Whatever combinations you like! I used paint dots and let Kara pick two colors. She picked Blue & Yellow. I dotted them alternating colors in the shape of a D. Then she matched the correct color M&M to each dot. This entertained her long enough that I decided she’d eaten too many M&Ms! SUCCESS!
• Topics of Conversation: What makes us more valuable than rubies? What makes us good? We care about other people (talk about why you chose the person you chose to make something special for). We see peoples differences and similarities (talk about how the M&M’s are all different but the same).
  
  

WEDNESDAY:

• Dinosaur Habitat
  I love the Dino Habitat, and so does my 2 year old! It’s cheap to make $3 or less, introduces the letter D in a fun and exciting way, and provides us parents an opportunity (see Conversations topics for today).
• Name Recognition – we made one painted canvas and three posters with Kara’s name on them. We put one on the fridge, one above her bed, one on the back of the front door, and one above her toy chest. We will keep practicing her name and finding her name in the house over and over again. When she identifies them all, I plan to move their locations. When she still finds them, I plan to change how I write them and display them. It teaches her to recognize her name, without adding more “book time” to our daily routine.
• Topics of Conversation: We learned about the letter D today; what is special about the letter D? It is continuous. Like a circle, it has no ending point, it never stops. God is always changing us and always lets us circle back to Him. Habitats are fun to play with. In our dino habitat with this clean mud mixture, the entire scenery is pliable and mold-able. It is constantly changing. Like we learned with the celery, our surroundings change us. But, our surroundings also provide for us if we choose carefully. Some dinosaurs choose to live near trees to use their leaves for food. Some dinosaurs choose to live in the rocks and mountains for shelter. Our surroundings are valuable to us, and we are valuable to our surroundings. We are more valuable than rubies. You are more valuable than rubies. And if you choose your surroundings confidently and carefully, you will always be value and goodness to those around you.

THURSDAY

• Pony Bead Sun Catcher – Kara had a 102 fever all day, so we had to skip today’s lesson. My original idea was to put pony beads, or rainbow-tinted clear beads, into a cookie-cutter while filling the metal (dollar store) cookie cutter with glue. After the glue dries, remove the cookie cutter frame and hang in sunlight. I will update this post with a blog of its own once we have a chance to do this activity again later in our Proverbs study.
• Counting D’s! Cut letter D’s out of a magazine. Have child recognize the letter and then count out how many you’ve cut.
• Topics of Conversation: What do you think the suncatcher will look like tomorrow in the sunlight? Do you think it will be pretty? All the different shades of color sparkling, will they light up the entire figure and shine like rubies? They’ll look really pretty. But you made it. You made it pretty and that makes you valuable and of more value than rubies.

FRIDAY

• A day of water! We put our plastic letters in the pool with us and letter scrambled off and on for almost four hours. After a sick day yesterday, she needed rest and fun.
• Topics of Conversation: Why is rest important? Why is water important? Did Dinosaurs need water earlier in the week in their habitats, like we needed water today? Remind our children that they are more valuable than rubies and also that they are good and confident. They do not bring harm to others, but help them instead.
